Terms and Conditions of Use

Last updated: 26 October 2026

These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Kerényi Gergő egyéni vállalkozó (Kerényi Gergő e.v.), a Hungarian sole entrepreneur with tax number 42985244-1-23 ("Lobby", "we", "us" or "our"). By creating an account, downloading, accessing or using Lobby, you agree to these Terms, our Community Guidelines (the Rules of Conduct in Section 7 together with the safety guidance shown in the App) and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the App.

Lobby is a social discovery app for adults. It helps users create and join small group events, chat with event participants, make friend connections and endorse people they have actually met. We provide the technology platform; users remain responsible for their own profiles, events, messages and real-world interactions.

In these Terms, "event" includes what the App calls a room or a lobby, and "endorsement" means what the App calls kudos.

1. Who Can Use Lobby

You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter into these Terms, and using Lobby for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not use Lobby if you are legally prohibited from doing so, if you are subject to sanctions that prevent use, or if we previously suspended or banned you.

You must create only one account, provide accurate information, keep it up to date and protect your sign-in method. Tell us promptly at info@lobbyapp.eu if you believe someone else has accessed your account.

Your age is based on the date of birth you give us when you create your profile. We do not check identity documents, and we rely on the information you provide. You are responsible for everything done through your account, and for keeping your device and sign-in method secure.

You can create an account with Sign in with Apple (on Apple devices), with Google, or with an email address and password; the App shows the methods available on your device. Your account is tied to the sign-in method you used to create it. Signing in with a different method does not give you access to an existing account and may create a separate one, and a method that is not offered on a platform cannot be used there; for example, Sign in with Apple is offered only on Apple devices.

2. What Lobby Does

Lobby lets eligible users create a profile, upload photos, complete photo and face verification, create or join events, use event chats, send friend requests, invite friends to events, endorse other users, block and report other users and receive service notifications. We may add, remove or change features where needed to improve the App, protect users, comply with law or adapt to technical requirements.

Lobby is not a dating agency, event organiser, venue operator, security provider or emergency service. We do not supervise user events, guarantee who attends, verify venues, arrange transport or perform criminal background checks.

What you can find in Lobby depends on what other users create and on the cities the App supports. We do not promise that any particular number of events, participants or users will be available in your area or at any time, or that you will make connections through the App.

Some features depend on your device, operating system, permissions, network connection and app version. To keep using Lobby you may need to install updates, and we may stop supporting older app versions or operating systems. Notifications are delivered through Apple and Google services, so we cannot guarantee that every notification arrives, or arrives on time; the App shows the current state of your events, requests and chats.

The App decides the order in which events are shown automatically, on your device. The main factors are your selected city, the distance from you, the interests on your profile and the event date; a small share of events outside your interests is also included so that you see other kinds of events. You can change the result by changing your city, search radius, interests and date filters. We do not accept payment for the ranking of events.

You are solely responsible for your interactions with other Users, both on and off the App.

3. Profiles, Photos and Verification

You choose what to put on your profile, but some information is required to use the App, such as an approved profile photo and basic account details. Your public profile may be visible to other users. Do not upload content unless you have the right to share it.

Profile photos and event banners are checked, using automated systems, before they are shown to other users. We may reject or remove photos and banners that appear unsafe, misleading, unlawful, infringing or inconsistent with our Community Guidelines. Automated checks apply general criteria and their outcome may differ from your own view of an image; you can ask for a human review as described in Section 8.

Lobby uses face verification to compare a live selfie with your current main profile photo. This helps reduce impersonation, but it is not an identity document check, background check or safety guarantee. Face verification involves biometric processing under Article 9(2)(a) GDPR and is required to create a Lobby profile. We ask for your explicit consent before any biometric processing begins. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account; withdrawal means your profile is removed, as face verification is necessary to use Lobby.

Verification compares your selfie with your main profile photo as it is at the time you verify. Replacing your main profile photo requires you to complete face verification again; until the new photo is approved and verified, your previous main photo stays on your profile.

4. Events and In-Person Meetings

Users can create events and request to join events created by others. Event hosts are responsible for the accuracy, legality and safety of the events they create, including the title, description, time, place, category, capacity and expectations for participants.

The number of places in an event is limited. Hosts decide whether to accept join requests and may remove participants. Events can change: hosts may edit or cancel an event, and participants may leave. An event closes automatically a few days after its scheduled date. If a host deletes their account, hosting of an event that still has other participants passes to one of them and the event continues.

Events can be scheduled only within the period the App allows, currently up to 14 days ahead. The place, time, description and banner of an event, and the names and profile photos of its participants, can be seen by everyone who can see the event in the App. Do not enter a private address or other personal details in an event unless you are comfortable sharing them with those users.

We are not a party to arrangements between users. We are not responsible for events that are changed, cancelled or do not take place as described, or for any costs you incur in connection with an event, such as tickets, travel, food, drink or venue bookings.

Meeting people in person involves real-world risk. Use your judgment, meet in public places, tell someone you trust where you are going and leave if a situation feels unsafe. If there is an emergency or immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Lobby cannot guarantee a response within any particular time.

5. Chat, Friends and Endorsements

Event chats are available to participants of the relevant event. Chats are for coordination, not long-term storage. Messages are automatically deleted approximately 35 days after the event's scheduled date, unless we must keep limited information for safety, legal or technical reasons. Messages are encrypted in transit and at rest by our service providers, but they are not end-to-end encrypted.

Messages you send remain visible to the other participants of that event until they are deleted under this rule, including after you leave the event or delete your account. Your name may appear in automatic messages in an event chat, for example when someone joins or leaves.

Friend requests and endorsements are optional social features. Endorsements are positive-only recommendations from users who attended the same event. The person you endorse sees how many endorsements they have received, not who gave them, and counts are updated periodically. We may limit, remove or ignore endorsements that appear fraudulent, abusive or inconsistent with the purpose of the feature.

You can block another user. Blocking ends any friend connection between you, withdraws pending friend requests, invitations and join requests between you, and limits what each of you sees of the other in the App, including events. If you block someone in an event you share, they are removed from it when you are the host; otherwise you leave it. You can unblock a user later. Blocking does not delete messages already exchanged, and it cannot prevent anyone from contacting you outside Lobby.

6. Your Content

You keep ownership of photos, profile text, event details, messages, reports and other content you submit ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display, transmit, format, crop, moderate and otherwise use that content as needed to operate, protect and improve Lobby.

This licence ends when your content or account is deleted, except where copies must remain for legal compliance, safety investigations, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, backups or where the content has already been shared with other users in the ordinary use of the App.

You are responsible for your User Content. You confirm that you have all necessary rights to share it and that it does not infringe anyone's rights, violate law or breach these Terms.

Lobby is not a storage or backup service. Keep your own copies of anything you want to keep.

7. Rules of Conduct

Use Lobby respectfully and lawfully. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. The examples below are not exhaustive; we may act against similar harmful behaviour even if it is not listed word-for-word.

Do not use Lobby to

Examples

Mislead people about who you are

Fake accounts, impersonation, false age, misleading photos, using another person's image without permission.

Harm, harass or exploit others

Threats, stalking, hate, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, non-consensual intimate content or any content involving minors.

Break the law or create unsafe events

Illegal goods or services, violence, dangerous meetups, fraud, scams, prostitution or escort services.

Spam or commercialise the App

Advertising, fundraising, political campaigning, recruiting, multi-level marketing or bulk messaging without permission.

Interfere with the App

Scraping, automated collection, reverse engineering, malware, bypassing moderation, defeating face verification or abusing rate limits.

Ignore boundaries

Trying to contact someone who blocked, removed or reported you, including through alternative accounts or channels.

Violate other people's privacy

Sharing someone's personal details, photos or chat messages without their permission, or photographing or recording people at events without their consent.

8. Reports, Moderation and Appeals

You can report users, rooms, events and content through the App or by contacting info@lobbyapp.eu. We may use user reports, automated signals and human review to detect potential breaches of these Terms, the Community Guidelines or the law. Apart from the automated checks on profile photos and event banners, we do not review content before it is shared, and we are not obliged to monitor content on Lobby or to look for unlawful activity.

Depending on the situation, we may remove content, limit visibility, hide or cancel rooms or events, revoke verification, restrict features, suspend accounts or permanently ban users. Where appropriate and legally allowed, we will give the affected user the main reason for the decision.

We aim to review reports of objectionable content and abusive behaviour within 24 hours. A report does not oblige us to take any particular action. We decide each case on the information available to us, and we may also act on our own initiative.

You can appeal a moderation decision by contacting info@lobbyapp.eu. Please include your account email, the relevant user, room, content or event and the reason you believe the decision should be changed. If the EU Digital Services Act applies to a particular decision, you may also have the right to use a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body. Our single point of contact for DSA notices and moderation issues is info@lobbyapp.eu; we accept English and Hungarian.

9. Third-Party Services and App Stores

Lobby relies on third-party services including Firebase/Google Cloud, AWS, Apple and Google Play for authentication, hosting, storage, push notifications, app distribution, crash diagnostics, photo processing and related infrastructure. Their own terms and policies may also apply to your use of their services.

If you download Lobby from the Apple App Store or Google Play, these Terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google. Apple and Google are not responsible for Lobby except to the extent required by their own store rules or applicable law.

Additional terms for the Apple App Store version

If you downloaded Lobby from the Apple App Store, the following also applies. These Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple. Your licence to use the App is limited to Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the App and its content, and for providing any maintenance and support; Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.

If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the App, if any; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation, and for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any third-party claim that the App or your possession and use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights.

You confirm that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the App. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and once you accept them, Apple has the right, and is deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary. Questions, complaints or claims about the App should be sent to us using the contact details in Section 18.

10. Paid Features and Subscriptions

Lobby is free to download. Creating an account, completing your profile and browsing events cost nothing. Hosting an event or joining one requires an active membership, except where a promotional free allowance or another offer described below is available to you.

Lobby offers paid features, in-app purchases and/or subscriptions, available in monthly, quarterly and annual billing options. Before you buy, the App will show the price, billing period, renewal rules, included features, any trial or promotional terms and the cancellation method. What a membership includes is described in the App at the time you buy and may change over time. A membership gives access to features of the App; it does not guarantee that events will be available, that hosts will accept your join requests or that an event will take place. Prices are shown by the store in your local currency, including any applicable taxes, and may differ between countries and stores. We may change prices; a change to the price of an existing subscription is applied in line with the relevant store's rules. Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, not directly by us, and the relevant store's billing, cancellation and refund rules apply. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel through the relevant app store before the end of the current billing period. Deleting your Lobby account or uninstalling the App does not automatically cancel a subscription; you must manage cancellation in your Apple or Google account. If you previously had a subscription and reinstall the App or sign in on a new device, you can restore it using the restore option in the App, which contacts the store to confirm your entitlement. Paid access is unlocked once the store has confirmed the purchase to us. On Google Play each billing option is a separate subscription, so changing billing option is done by managing your subscriptions in Google Play. The subscription itself belongs to the Apple ID or Google account that bought it, not to a Lobby account. A subscription is active on one Lobby account at a time: if you restore or buy it on a different Lobby account, the App asks you first, and confirming moves the membership to that account, while the account it was on goes back to the free features, or to a free membership month it still had running. We use purchase and subscription status confirmed by the store to unlock or remove paid features. This does not limit any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

EU and EEA consumers have the right to withdraw from a subscription within 14 days of purchase and receive a full refund, unless they expressly request that performance begin immediately and acknowledge that this request means they lose the right of withdrawal once performance has begun. Refund requests for App Store or Google Play purchases must be made directly to the relevant store; Lobby cannot process refunds for store-billed transactions.

If a purchase is refunded, reversed or charged back, whether through the store or through your bank or card provider, the paid access it provided ends, and we may remove features or benefits that depended on it. Where we reasonably suspect misuse of refunds or payment disputes, we may restrict or suspend the account concerned.

The promotions and offers described below are provided at our discretion and free of charge unless stated otherwise. Whether one applies to you is decided automatically, using the records described in our Privacy Policy, based on your sign-in identity rather than on a particular account or device. The details in force at any time, such as amounts, dates and remaining places, are those shown in the App.

Promotional free allowance

From time to time we offer a promotional free allowance that lets you host and join a limited number of events each month without a membership. While an allowance is running, the App shows how much of it you have left and the date the promotion is currently due to end.

The allowance is granted per calendar month and resets at midnight in Budapest on the first day of each month; any unused part of it does not carry over into the next month. A join uses one unit of the allowance at the moment you actually become a participant. Asking to join an event does not use a unit, and a request that is rejected or withdrawn costs nothing, but you need at least one unit left in order to ask. If you leave an event you joined of your own accord, the unit stays used and is not returned. If a host removes you from an event, the unit is returned to you. If an event is deleted before it takes place, the unit used to host it and the units used to join it are all returned.

The allowance belongs to you as a person rather than to an individual account. We identify it using a one-way hash derived from your sign-in method, so deleting your account and creating a new one does not give you a further allowance in the same month. While you are using the allowance you can have one event you host and one event you have joined at a time. The allowance has no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money or for a discount on a membership, and cannot be sold or transferred.

We may change the size of the allowance or end the promotion at any time, and the App shows the end date currently in force. Ending the promotion only stops new free hosting and joining: events you have already created or joined, your participation in them, pending join requests and any membership you have bought are unaffected. This does not limit any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

Welcome membership offer

For a limited number of new accounts, we give a free month of membership when you finish creating your profile. It starts on the day your profile is completed, runs for the number of days shown in the App, and gives you the same unlimited hosting and joining as a paid membership. No payment details are needed, nothing is charged at any point, and there is nothing to cancel: when the free month ends, your account simply becomes a free account again and any promotional free allowance then in force applies to you as usual.

The offer is limited to a fixed number of accounts and is available only while places remain. Like the free allowance, it belongs to you as a person rather than to an individual account: we identify it using the same one-way hash derived from your sign-in method, so deleting your account and creating a new one does not give you a second free month, and does not use up a further place. If you already have a paid membership when you finish your profile, your paid membership is left exactly as it is and the offer is treated as used. The free month has no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money or for a discount on a membership, and cannot be sold or transferred.

You can buy a membership at any time during the free month. Because the app stores charge as soon as you buy and cannot postpone the start of a subscription, buying starts your paid membership immediately and replaces whatever remains of the free month; the App tells you this before you buy. We may change or end this offer at any time, which does not affect a free month already granted. This does not limit any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

New member offer

If you create your Lobby profile after an introductory promotion has ended, and you have not used Lobby before, we may give you a one-time free allowance to host and join a small number of events, shown in the App, without a membership. It does not renew each month and ends on the date shown in the App, whether or not you have used it. It follows the same rules as the promotional free allowance for when a unit is used or returned, and you can have one event you host and one event you have joined at a time.

If, by that date, you host an event, join another member's event and give kudos to someone you met at an event, you can buy the monthly membership at the introductory price shown in the App for the first month, within the number of days shown. After the first month the membership renews automatically at the regular monthly price unless you cancel. The introductory price is applied by the store you buy through: on the Apple App Store it is an introductory offer, which Apple allows each Apple ID only once; on Google Play it is an offer applied by Google Play. The store's own eligibility rules apply in addition to ours. Before such a purchase the App checks with us whether the introductory price applies to it, and the purchase goes ahead only once that check has been answered. The App shows the introductory price, the regular price and the renewal terms before you buy.

The offer is not available to anyone who received the welcome membership offer or who used Lobby before the offer began, and it belongs to you as a person rather than to an individual account: we identify it using the same one-way hash derived from your sign-in method, so deleting your account and creating a new one does not give you the offer again. Buying a membership before you complete the steps ends the offer. The allowance and the introductory price have no cash value and cannot be sold or transferred. We may change or end this offer at any time; doing so does not affect an introductory price you have already become entitled to within its claim period, or a purchase you have already made. This does not limit any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

11. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and retain personal data, including profile information, event and chat data, device information, location settings, reports, crash diagnostics and biometric data used for face verification. The Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms.

12. Intellectual Property and Copyright Complaints

Lobby, including the App, software, design, text, graphics, trademarks, logos and other materials we provide, belongs to us or our licensors. You may use Lobby only as allowed by these Terms and applicable law. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease or create derivative works from the App except where mandatory law allows it.

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to download and use the App for your own personal, non-commercial use. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved.

Only upload photos, banners and other material that you created yourself or are otherwise entitled to share. Do not upload content that belongs to someone else, including stock photography, press or promotional images, artwork, album or film artwork, logos or brand assets, unless you have permission from the rights holder or another legal basis to use it. This applies to profile photos, event banners and any other image you upload.

Reporting infringing content

If you believe content on Lobby infringes your copyright, trade mark or other intellectual property right, you can tell us in either of two ways: report the user, room or event inside the App and choose the copyright / intellectual property reason, or write to info@lobbyapp.eu. We accept notices in English and Hungarian. This is our notice and action mechanism under Article 16 of the EU Digital Services Act. We confirm that we received your notice, review the content, and where the claim is substantiated we remove the content or disable access to it without undue delay. We will also tell you the decision we reached.

So that we can act on a notice, please include all of the following:

  • Your name and email address, and whether you are the rights holder or acting on the rights holder's behalf.
  • Identification of the work or right you say has been infringed, and where the original can be seen if it is published somewhere.
  • A clear indication of where the content sits in Lobby, such as the profile, room or event concerned and which photo or banner is affected.
  • An explanation of why you believe the content infringes that right, with enough detail for us to assess it.
  • A statement that you believe in good faith that the information in your notice is accurate and complete.

Where we remove content following a notice, we tell the affected user what was removed and why, and they may appeal as described in section 8, unless the law prevents us from doing so.

Repeat infringers

We record intellectual property complaints that are upheld against an account. In appropriate circumstances we restrict features, suspend accounts or permanently terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe the intellectual property rights of others. Sending a notice or an appeal that you know to be false is a breach of these Terms, and may make you liable for costs and damages under applicable law.

13. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lobby is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that the App will always be available, error-free, secure or compatible with every device, or that every defect will be fixed.

We do not control users' offline behaviour and do not guarantee any user's identity, character, intentions, compatibility or safety. Verification only means that the App's face comparison process succeeded against a profile photo; it is not a background check.

Information in the App, such as event details, profiles, distances, availability, verification badges and endorsement counts, is provided by users or generated automatically, and may be incomplete, inaccurate or out of date. We are not responsible for interruptions, delays or failures caused by app stores, sign-in providers, cloud and network providers, or your device.

14. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, loss of profit, loss of data, loss of goodwill, business interruption, personal disputes between users or harm arising from in-person meetings. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability relating to Lobby or these Terms is limited to the greater of EUR 100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for losses and costs we incur as a result of your breach of these Terms or of your User Content, including reasonable legal costs arising from claims by third parties, except to the extent the loss was caused by our own breach of these Terms, negligence or wilful misconduct.

15. Suspension, Deletion and Termination

You may delete your account at any time in the App or by contacting info@lobbyapp.eu. Deletion is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you breached these Terms, created a safety or legal risk, misused the App, attempted to bypass trust and safety systems or if we are legally required to act. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply, including content licences, intellectual property, privacy, disclaimers, liability, governing law and dispute terms.

If we suspend or terminate your account because you breached these Terms, you are not entitled to a refund of any remaining subscription period, except where mandatory law or the relevant store's rules provide otherwise. We may also discontinue Lobby or any part of it; where practical, we will give reasonable notice in the App.

16. Governing Law and Consumer Redress

These Terms are governed by Hungarian law, without limiting any mandatory consumer protections that apply in the EU or EEA country where you live. Subject to mandatory consumer rights, disputes may be brought before the courts of Budapest, Hungary. Consumers may also bring claims before the courts of the EU Member State where they are domiciled where mandatory law allows this.

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any issue. If you are a consumer, you may also contact the competent consumer protection authority or conciliation body. As our registered seat is in Bács-Kiskun County, the competent body is the Bács-Kiskun County Conciliation Board (Bács-Kiskun Vármegyei Békéltető Testület), 6000 Kecskemét, Árpád krt. 4. (postal address: 6001 Kecskemét, Pf. 228), email bekeltetes@bacsbekeltetes.hu, phone +36 76 501-525, website www.bacsbekeltetes.hu. You may also turn to the conciliation board competent for your own place of residence. The European Commission's old Online Dispute Resolution platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025; current consumer redress information is available through the Commission's Consumer Redress in the EU pages.

For disputes about content moderation decisions covered by the Digital Services Act, you may also have access to certified out-of-court dispute settlement bodies listed by the European Commission.

17. Changes and General Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the App, law, security, business needs or our services. If a change is material, we will notify you in the App or by another appropriate method. If you continue using Lobby after the change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, you must stop using Lobby and may delete your account.

If any part of these Terms is invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains effective. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our consent. We may transfer these Terms to an affiliate or successor as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganisation or sale of assets.

English and Hungarian versions of these Terms are intended to match. If there is a conflict, the version presented to you when you accepted the Terms will apply, subject to mandatory consumer protection law.
